MetaMask alternatives for 2026: Rabby, Rainbow, Trust Wallet and Ledger for EVM users, plus Slush, xPortal and the Radix Wallet for Sui, MultiversX and Radix.

The best MetaMask alternatives in 2026 are Rabby if you stay on Ethereum and EVM chains, Trust Wallet if you want one app for many chains, a Ledger device if you want hardware security, and a chain-native wallet if you're leaving the EVM world: Slush for Sui, xPortal for MultiversX and the Radix Wallet for Radix. Which one is right depends on why you're switching.
MetaMask is still the default wallet for Ethereum. Since 2025 it has also added non-EVM networks, including native Bitcoin in December 2025 and Tron in January 2026 (The Block). Even so, it doesn't natively support Sui, MultiversX or Radix, the three chains JewelSwap runs on. Other reasons people switch include clearer transaction previews, a better mobile app, or wanting keys kept off an internet-connected device. This guide compares the main options, checked in October 2026.
| Alternative | Type | Best for | Chains | Fees | Custody |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rabby | Self-custody wallet | EVM DeFi users who want pre-sign checks | Ethereum and EVM networks | Free wallet; network gas (in-app swaps may add a fee) | Self-custody |
| Rainbow | Self-custody wallet | Friendly mobile-first EVM wallet | Ethereum and major L2s | Free wallet; network gas (in-app swaps may add a fee) | Self-custody |
| Trust Wallet | Self-custody wallet | One app for many chains | Many chains, including Sui and MultiversX | Free wallet; network gas (in-app swaps may add a fee) | Self-custody |
| Ledger | Hardware wallet | Larger balances | Wide, including Sui, MultiversX and Radix (via partner apps) | One-off device cost | Self-custody (cold) |
| Slush | Self-custody wallet | Sui | Sui | Free wallet; Sui gas | Self-custody |
| xPortal | Self-custody wallet | MultiversX | MultiversX | Free wallet; EGLD gas | Self-custody |
| Radix Wallet | Self-custody wallet | Radix | Radix | Free wallet; XRD fees | Self-custody |
Software wallets are free to install. You pay network gas on every transaction, and many add a fee on swaps made inside the app, which you can often avoid by using a DEX directly. Check the quote before you confirm.
Rabby is an Ethereum and EVM wallet from the team behind DeBank. Its main selling point is that it shows the expected balance changes and token approvals before you sign. It also switches automatically to the right network for each site.
Strengths: pre-sign previews, broad EVM network coverage, Ledger support and a browser extension that feels familiar to MetaMask users.
Drawbacks: EVM only. It won't help with Sui, MultiversX or Radix.
Suits: MetaMask users who want to stay on Ethereum and L2s with better safety checks.
Rainbow is a mobile-first Ethereum wallet with a browser extension. It supports Ethereum and major layer-2 networks such as Base, Arbitrum and Optimism.
Strengths: a clean interface that suits newer users, and good NFT display.
Drawbacks: EVM only, and fewer advanced DeFi tools than Rabby.
Suits: people who mainly use their phone and stay on Ethereum and its L2s.
Trust Wallet is a multi-chain self-custody wallet on iOS, Android and as a browser extension. It supports a very wide range of chains. Its own pages list MultiversX and Sui, with in-app swaps for Sui (Trust Wallet).
Strengths: one recovery phrase for many chains, and you can hold EGLD and SUI alongside EVM assets.
Drawbacks: in December 2025, a malicious update to version 2.68 of the browser extension stole recovery phrases. Users lost about $7 million. Trust Wallet told users to upgrade to 2.69 and committed to reimbursing verified losses (The Block). The mobile app wasn't affected. For dApps on MultiversX and Radix, a chain-native wallet usually connects more reliably.
Suits: people who hold coins on many chains and want one app.
A Ledger hardware wallet keeps your private keys on a device that never exposes them to your computer. The companion app, formerly Ledger Live, was renamed Ledger Wallet in late 2025. Ledger pairs with software wallets for DeFi. Sui announced Ledger Live support in April 2025. MultiversX documents Ledger login through its web wallet (MultiversX docs). The Radix Wallet supports Ledger through its Connector extension.
Strengths: the strongest protection against malware on your computer, and support for all three JewelSwap chains.
Drawbacks: the cost of the device, and it can't stop you approving a malicious transaction that you sign willingly.
Suits: anyone holding amounts they couldn't afford to lose.
If you're moving beyond the EVM, a wallet built for the chain gives the smoothest dApp experience.
Slush (Sui). Slush is Mysten Labs' wallet. It replaced the original Sui Wallet in April 2025 and runs as a web app, a Chrome extension and on iOS and Android, with Ledger support and social sign-in. See what is Slush wallet and our comparison of the best Sui wallets.
xPortal (MultiversX). xPortal is MultiversX's mobile wallet, the successor to Maiar. It lets you buy, swap and stake EGLD and connect to MultiversX dApps. It can act as an on-chain "Guardian", a second signer that co-signs your transactions, and changing it involves a 20-day cooldown (MultiversX docs). On desktop, the MultiversX web wallet and browser extension do the same job.
Radix Wallet (Radix). The Radix Wallet is a mobile app that pairs with desktop sites through the Radix Connector extension, which also handles Ledger. One thing to know: the Radix Foundation moved into maintenance mode from May 2026 and has been handing services to the community. It says it has funded key wallet infrastructure through the end of December 2026 (Radix Foundation). The wallet is open source and still works, but watch for announcements about who runs it after that.
Every wallet here is self-custody, so the wallet itself is the first step. What you do next matters too. Our self-custody guide and list of the best self-custody wallets cover backups and safe habits. CeFi vs DeFi explains what changes when you stop using an exchange to hold coins.
JewelSwap is a non-custodial DeFi protocol on Sui, MultiversX and Radix. You connect a chain-native wallet such as Slush or xPortal, and you can then:
JewelSwap is not an exchange and has no fiat on-ramp. You buy SUI, EGLD or XRD elsewhere and move them to your wallet first. DeFi also carries smart-contract and market risk, so start with small amounts. New to the chains? Read what is Sui or what is MultiversX.
For Ethereum and EVM chains, Rabby is the closest swap with better pre-sign checks. For many chains in one app, Trust Wallet. For Sui, MultiversX or Radix, use the chain's own wallet: Slush, xPortal or the Radix Wallet.
Not natively as of October 2026. MetaMask supports EVM networks plus a small number of non-EVM chains, including Bitcoin and Tron, but not Sui, MultiversX or Radix. Use a chain-native wallet for those.
Yes, into other EVM wallets such as Rabby or Rainbow, and you'll see the same Ethereum addresses. On different chains like Sui or MultiversX, the same phrase creates different addresses, and it's safer to create a fresh phrase for each wallet. Never type a seed phrase into a website.
For larger balances, yes, because the keys never touch your computer. You can still use a Ledger with software wallets for DeFi. It won't protect you from approving a malicious transaction, so read what you sign.
