Typus Finance is a Sui derivatives protocol with options vaults, SAFU and perps. Still online in October 2026 but far smaller after its 2025 exploit. How it works.

Typus Finance is a derivatives protocol on the Sui blockchain that offers DeFi options vaults, a principal-protected yield product called SAFU, and a perpetual futures exchange. It launched with Sui mainnet in 2023 and is still online as of October 2026, but usage has collapsed since an October 2025 exploit: DefiLlama records only a few dollars of fees over the last 30 days.

Typus began as one of the first options venues on Sui. Its DeFi Options Vaults let depositors sell options on SUI and other assets to collect a premium, with buyers bidding in a recurring auction. It later added SAFU, a vault that protects principal and buys options for upside, and in 2025 a perpetual futures exchange that combined options and perps in one interface.
The protocol grew through 2025: DefiLlama shows options vault TVL near $15M in July 2025 and SAFU above $20M in January 2025. The October 2025 exploit hit the perps liquidity pool, and TVL and trading have fallen steadily since. Typus relaunched its perps in early 2026 and lists a rebrand and "Perps v2" as later goals. As of 10 October 2026 the app still loads, the docs are maintained and we found no announced shutdown, yet DefiLlama shows about $4 in fees and roughly $72 of options notional over the past 30 days.
TYPUS has a fixed supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens. The docs allocate 35% to the community, 25% to the core team, 20% to partners, 10% to liquidity, 5% to the treasury, 4.5% to an airdrop and 0.5% to growth. Team and partner tokens had a 12-month cliff and 12 months of linear vesting; community tokens release over 60 months.
Holders can lock TYPUS for up to four years to receive veTYPUS, which carries governance votes and boosted liquidity-mining rewards. As of 10 October 2026, CoinGecko showed TYPUS at a market cap of about $390k with under $100 of daily trading volume, so the token is very illiquid.
October 2025 exploit. On 15 October 2025 an attacker took about $3.44M in SUI, USDC, xBTC and suiETH from the TLP contract. Halborn's analysis traced it to a custom oracle module that had not been audited and was missing an authorisation check, letting the attacker set prices and swap at false rates. Typus paused its contracts; it reported that SAFU and the options vaults were not affected. Its roadmap later listed monthly TLP compensation and a perps restructure.
Liquidity and activity risk. With roughly $1.1M of TVL and near-zero fees, auctions may draw few bidders, perps may lack depth, and a thinly traded token offers little exit liquidity. Low revenue also raises questions about how long the team can keep maintaining the product.
Product risk. Option sellers can lose part of their deposit in strong price moves, and TLP holders absorb trader profits. If leverage is new to you, understand liquidation before trading perps anywhere.
No. JewelSwap has no integration with Typus Finance.
JewelSwap does not offer options or perpetual futures on Sui. Its Sui products are JWLSUI liquid staking, where JWLSUI is minted 1:1 against SUI and staked into appreciating SJWLSUI with a 10-day unbonding period and a transferable claim NFT, plus yield farms on Cetus and Turbos pools. To learn how perp pricing works in general, read our guide to funding rates.
For perpetuals on Sui, Bluefin and Aftermath Finance are the other perpetuals venues on Sui and both use order books rather than a single liquidity pool as counterparty. The gap in scale is wide: DefiLlama shows Aftermath's afLP perps vault at about $4.7M versus roughly $7k in the Typus perps pool in October 2026. Typus remains unusual in offering on-chain options vaults on Sui. For lower-risk yield, a lending market such as NAVI or Scallop is simpler to reason about. Yes, but at a very small scale. As of 10 October 2026 the app loads and we found no shutdown announcement, yet DefiLlama shows about $1.1M of TVL and only a few dollars of fees over the past 30 days, far below its 2025 levels.
TYPUS is Typus Finance's token, with a fixed supply of 1 billion. Locking it for up to four years gives veTYPUS, which carries governance votes and boosted liquidity-mining rewards. It trades with very little volume.
No. JewelSwap has no integration with Typus and does not offer options or perps on Sui. Its Sui products are JWLSUI and SJWLSUI liquid staking and yield farms on Cetus and Turbos pools.
