Ember Loop vs NAVI Loop: Two Ways to Loop Stablecoins on Sui

Ember Loop vs NAVI Loop compared: what each holds, where the yield comes from, leverage, fees, exits, caps and the risks of both Sui betas.

Ember Loop vs NAVI Loop: Two Ways to Loop Stablecoins on Sui

Ember Loop and NAVI Loop are two JewelSwap Labs vaults on Sui that loop stablecoins for you, but they earn in different ways. Ember Loop borrows USDC on Suilend to hold about 4.5 times your deposit in Ember's eEARN yield token, so it lives on the spread between eEARN's yield and the USDC borrow rate. NAVI Loop supplies and borrows the same coin (USDY or USDSUI) on NAVI at about 2.6–3x, so it has no price gap between its legs but earns mainly from NAVI's reward emissions.

Both are public, unaudited betas. This guide compares them on mechanics, yield drivers, fees, exits and risk so you can tell which risk you would rather carry, or whether you want either. For the general idea of looping, start with DeFi looping explained.

How Ember Loop earns

Ember is a vault platform incubated by the team behind Bluefin. Its eEARN vault takes USDC and runs stablecoin strategies; your return shows up as a rising eEARN price. Ember's vault API on 18 October 2026 showed eEARN priced at about 1.052 USDC, a 10% target APY and about 4,200 active depositors. Ember as a whole had about $103M of TVL on DefiLlama the same day. Our Ember Protocol guide covers how its curators and rate updates work.

Ember Loop buys eEARN with your USDC, posts it on Suilend's Ember Market, borrows USDC against it and buys more, using a flash loan to reach about 4.5x in one step. The rough return is:

eEARN yield × 4.5 − USDC borrow rate × 3.5 − fees

The JewelSwap docs give an illustrative example: if eEARN earns 10% and borrowing costs 8%, a 4.5x position earns about 17% before fees. If eEARN fell to 6% with borrowing still at 8%, the same position would lose about 1% a year. Leverage works in both directions. Our Ember Loop guide has the full breakdown.

How NAVI Loop earns

NAVI Loop supplies USDY or USDSUI to NAVI, borrows the same coin and supplies that too. With collateral and debt in one coin, a price move cannot push the position toward liquidation. The catch is the interest. NAVI's open API on 18 October 2026 showed USDY at about 0.55% base supply versus 2.10% base borrow, and USDSUI at about 3.18% versus 4.89%. On interest alone, every turn of the loop loses money.

What makes it work is NAVI's incentive programme, paid in vSUI on supplied amounts, which leverage multiplies. The NAVI Loop docs state it plainly: "Without rewards, the vault would earn less than holding the coin." NAVI can change or end those rewards, and NAVI's own borrowing guide says borrowing the same token you supply can reduce the rewards counted. The NAVI Loop guide explains why USDY's own Treasury yield is earned only once, on your deposit.

Which risk would you rather hold?

The two vaults swap one risk for another.

  • Ember Loop carries strategy and asset risk. If Ember's strategies lose money, eEARN's price falls, and at 4.5x a 1% drop in eEARN takes roughly 4.5% off jeLOOP. You are also trusting Ember's operator, which posts eEARN's rate on-chain, within limits of one update per day and at most 1% per update. In return, the yield source is a real strategy rather than a token subsidy.
  • NAVI Loop carries incentive risk. There is no second asset and no price gap, but the profit depends on a reward programme set by another protocol. If NAVI cuts rewards, the loop's return falls below simply holding USDY or USDSUI.

Both carry rate risk: a rise in the borrow rate cuts the return in either vault, faster at higher leverage. Ember Loop runs higher leverage, so it is more sensitive to rates.

Exits and liquidity

Ember Loop never pays instant withdrawals. Each exit is a queued request priced at the moment you make it, after a 1% withdrawal fee. The keeper, which runs every ten minutes, unwinds exactly that slice: it repays part of the Suilend debt with a flash loan, sells the freed eEARN on Bluefin and funds tickets in request order. The docs say this usually takes 10–30 minutes. A sale more than 1% below Ember's rate is refused, so a very large exit can take several rounds.

NAVI Loop pays at once if the vault holds idle coins; otherwise it issues a ticket that the keeper funds in order, usually in one or two runs. Exits need free coins in NAVI's pool. NAVI's USDSUI pool was about 81% utilised on 18 October 2026, so USDSUI exits are the more likely to wait. See utilisation rate explained.

Keeper limits and admin controls

In both vaults the keeper is a JewelSwap service with bounded powers. In Ember Loop it cannot lever above a hard per-lender LTV limit, must sell eEARN within 1% of Ember's rate and cannot send funds to an arbitrary address. A guardian key can pause the vault, and the vault switches itself into de-risk mode if eEARN's rate is marked down. Admin and upgrade rights sit with JewelSwap's 3-of-5 multisig.

In NAVI Loop the contract checks every keeper step before the transaction can complete: no loss beyond NAVI's borrow fee on new debt, LTV under the vault's ceiling, no debt in any other coin, and total losses under 1% of the vault per day. Deposits and withdrawals only read NAVI's books, so a NAVI upgrade cannot block them.

Who each vault suits

  • Ember Loop suits someone who already understands eEARN, is comfortable with Ember's operator model and wants a managed 4.5x position in USDC terms, with no deposit cap.
  • NAVI Loop suits someone who holds USDY or USDSUI, wants no price gap between collateral and debt, and accepts that the return depends on NAVI's reward programme. The beta cap keeps positions small.
  • Neither suits money you need on short notice or cannot afford to lose. Both are unaudited betas, and fees on a short hold can exceed the yield.

If you would rather run a loop yourself, our guides to using Suilend and using NAVI cover the manual steps, and NAVI vs Suilend compares the two lenders. JewelSwap's other Sui strategies are leveraged yield farms on Scallop and farms on Cetus and Turbos.

Risks common to both

  • Unaudited beta contracts. Neither vault has had an external audit. Bugs could cause loss of funds.
  • Liquidation. Ember Loop can be liquidated if its USDC debt grows too large against its eEARN collateral. NAVI Loop is immune to price moves but could drift toward NAVI's limit if borrow interest outpaced supply interest for a long time with the keeper stopped. Read our guide to DeFi liquidations.
  • Rate risk. Higher borrow rates reduce returns and can turn them negative.
  • Beta caps and access. NAVI Loop is capped at about $10,000 per vault. USDY is not offered to US persons by Ondo, and these vaults are not available to US or UK residents.
  • Dependencies. Each vault depends on its lender, its oracle, its keeper and, for Ember Loop, Ember and Bluefin.

Frequently asked questions

Which is safer, Ember Loop or NAVI Loop?

Neither is safe in an absolute sense; both are unaudited betas. NAVI Loop has no price gap between collateral and debt but depends on NAVI's rewards. Ember Loop depends on eEARN's strategy and runs higher leverage.

Why does NAVI Loop need rewards to be profitable?

On NAVI the borrow rate on USDY and USDSUI is above the supply rate, so borrowing the same coin to resupply it loses money on interest. NAVI's vSUI rewards, multiplied by leverage, are what turn the loop positive.

How long do withdrawals take?

Ember Loop withdrawals are always queued and usually paid within 10–30 minutes. NAVI Loop pays instantly if the vault has idle coins, otherwise usually within 10–20 minutes.

Can I use both vaults at once?

Yes. They are separate vaults with separate share tokens. Ember Loop takes USDC; NAVI Loop takes USDY or USDSUI.
