Where to buy SUI with INR in India, how the SUI price in INR is set, FIU-IND rules, 30% tax and 1% TDS, and how to use Sui DeFi from India in 2026.

Yes, you can buy SUI in India with rupees: as of 18 October 2026, Indian exchanges including CoinDCX, WazirX and ZebPay run SUI/INR markets, and CoinSwitch, Mudrex and Giottus show SUI with INR pricing. The SUI price in INR is set separately on each exchange's own order book, so check the live quote on the platform you use rather than relying on any single figure.
Gains are taxed at a flat 30%, a 1% TDS applies to sales above small thresholds, and any platform serving Indian users has to be registered with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU-IND). This guide covers where to buy, how the rules work as of October 2026, Sui's builder community in India and how Indian users reach Sui DeFi. If Sui is new to you, start with our explainer on what Sui is.
India is one of the largest sources of search interest in Sui outside the United States, and much of that interest is plain "sui" and "sui coin" searches from people trying to understand the token and its price in rupees. The builder side is smaller and more grassroots than in South Korea or Singapore, but it is real and documented.
We could not find a Sui Foundation announcement of a formal India-specific programme, office or partnership as of 18 October 2026, so treat claims of an "official Sui India" body with caution unless they link to a Sui Foundation source.
We checked each exchange's own pages and APIs on 18 October 2026. "Listed" below means the exchange showed a SUI market or SUI buy page with INR pricing on that date. Listings change, so confirm in the app before you deposit.
| Exchange | What we verified | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| CoinDCX | SUI/INR and SUI/USDT markets marked "active" in its public markets API | Spot INR market |
| WazirX | SUI/INR market page with a live order book | Resumed trading on 24 October 2025 after a court-approved restructuring |
| ZebPay | SUI/INR market page | Spot INR market |
| CoinSwitch | SUI coin page with live SUI/INR pricing | Check in-app for order types |
| Mudrex | SUI page with INR price and a buy option | App-based buying |
| Giottus | SUI page with buy and sell options from a Rs 100 deposit | INR pricing |
We could not confirm a SUI/INR market on Bitbns on the date we checked, so it is left out of the table.
On WazirX: the exchange suspended operations after a security breach in July 2024 and restarted trading on 24 October 2025, following a restructuring approved by the Singapore courts, as reported by Outlook Money. Users with balances from before the breach should follow the exchange's own recovery notices.
Several global exchanges that serve Indian users have registered with FIU-IND after enforcement action (see the regulation section below), including Binance and Bybit. If you use one, check that its Indian entity is registered, how rupee deposits work, and whether SUI is available in your account.
There is no single official SUI price in rupees. Each Indian exchange runs its own order book, so the quote you see is the last price buyers and sellers agreed on that platform. In practice, three things drive it:
So the same coin can show slightly different INR prices on CoinDCX, WazirX and ZebPay at the same moment. Compare the live quote and the full cost of a trade before buying, and do not rely on price figures in articles, including this one.
India has no single crypto law. Instead, crypto businesses are covered by anti-money-laundering rules, and individuals by the tax code. Here is where each piece stands.
Virtual digital asset service providers were brought under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in March 2023. According to the Finance Ministry's press release of 28 December 2023, any provider exchanging crypto for rupees, transferring crypto or holding it for customers must register with FIU-IND as a reporting entity, and the obligation "is activity-based and is not contingent on physical presence in India".
On 28 December 2023, FIU-IND issued show-cause notices to nine offshore platforms (Binance, KuCoin, Huobi, Kraken, Gate.io, Bittrex, Bitstamp, MEXC Global and Bitfinex) and asked the IT ministry to block their websites, per the same release. Since then:
The practical lesson: before you deposit, check that the platform's Indian operation is registered with FIU-IND.
Registered platforms must verify customers and keep records under the PMLA. In practice, exchanges confirm identity through KYC providers such as iDenfy or in-house tools before they allow INR deposits or crypto withdrawals. Expect to verify your identity, and sometimes your wallet address, before moving SUI off an exchange. Our guides to crypto KYC and the Travel Rule explain the wider framework.
The government's long-promised crypto discussion paper has still not produced legislation. As of July 2026, WION reported that the paper "has now been shelved five times", citing opposition from the Reserve Bank of India. We found no published paper or bill as of 18 October 2026. Holding and trading crypto is taxed and regulated for anti-money-laundering purposes, but there is no dedicated licensing regime like Hong Kong's (see our Hong Kong VATP guide) or the EU's MiCA.
Crypto tax rules in India have been strict since 2022, and the 2026 changes added reporting rather than relief. The Income-tax Act, 1961 provisions below are shown on the Income Tax Department's site:
The Income-tax Act, 2025 replaced the 1961 Act from 1 April 2026. Tax commentators, including Patron Accounting, report that it carries over the 30% rate, the TDS rate and thresholds and the no-set-off rule unchanged, under new section numbers, and that the definition of a virtual digital asset now explicitly includes "crypto-asset".
Budget 2026 added a reporting duty for exchanges and other prescribed platforms to file crypto-asset transaction statements, with a penalty of Rs 200 per day for not filing and Rs 50,000 for inaccurate information, per TaxGuru. Industry requests to cut TDS or allow loss set-off were not adopted, according to the same sources. This ties into the global Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework: expect the tax department to see more of your exchange activity.
Crypto tax is easy to get wrong. Keep records of every buy, sell, swap and transfer, and speak to a chartered accountant before you file.
Buying SUI on an exchange is the first step. To use Sui apps you need your own wallet. The usual route looks like this:

Indian law does not set out clear rules for self-custody or decentralised apps. A few points to keep in mind:
Yes. As of 18 October 2026, CoinDCX, WazirX and ZebPay run SUI/INR markets, and CoinSwitch, Mudrex and Giottus show SUI with INR pricing. Check that the exchange is registered with FIU-IND and confirm the listing in the app before depositing.
There is no single official rupee price. Each Indian exchange sets its own SUI/INR price from its order book, driven by the global SUI price, the local USDT/INR rate and local liquidity, so check the live quote on the exchange you use.
Gains on virtual digital assets are taxed at a flat 30% plus cess, only the cost of acquisition is deductible, and losses cannot be set off or carried forward. A 1% TDS applies to sales above Rs 10,000 a year, or Rs 50,000 for specified persons. The Income-tax Act, 2025 kept these rules from 1 April 2026.
Buying, holding and selling crypto is not banned, but India has no comprehensive crypto law as of October 2026. Crypto platforms must register with FIU-IND under the anti-money-laundering law, and gains are taxed under the Income-tax Act.
Any wallet that supports the Sui network works the same in India. Phantom ended Sui support on 24 September 2026, so choose a wallet that still supports Sui, back up your recovery phrase offline and send a small test amount first.
